Originally from Texas, my husband and I met at The University of Texas (Hook ‘Em!), moved to New York City in 2019 for two years, and then to the northwest corner of Connecticut where I gave birth to our daughter. We recently moved back to Texas to the great little town of Wimberley to be closer to family.
My experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist was primarily in skilled nursing facilities and in school-based settings until I became a mother. During my pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum period, my passion grew for advocating for, supporting, and educating caregivers in all phases of their parenting journey.
-
As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I had some foundational knowledge of infant feeding, but I didn’t yet feel confident enough to serve that population directly without more education. With the long term goal of becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), I went on to complete a 95+ hour comprehensive Lactation Consultant Training Program to obtain my certification as a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS). Additionally, I completed an in-depth course to further my knowledge on tongue ties and how they can affect the nursing journey. My own breastfeeding journey with my daughter was full of challenges and hurdles that I was able to overcome with self-efficacy and the right support. I am very grateful for the support I received, and hope to do the same for other nursing dyads.
Mission
Support the caregivers during the prenatal phase by educating, building confidence, and planning ahead to optimize breastfeeding success
Provide evidence-based information, so that caregivers can make informed decisions for themselves and their family
Help troubleshoot and overcome any issues that may arise during the dyad’s nursing journey
Work with the family during all phases of lactation and support their goals, including initiation and maintenance of breastfeeding, return to work, when to introduce solids safely, etc.

Please feel free to reach out to me at any stage in your journey.

Education by Trimester
This offering includes three prenatal visits, held either in-person or virtually, focused on discussing your feeding goals, providing evidence-based education and resources, and creating a personalized plan to support you through each stage of pregnancy.
After each session, you’ll receive a written summary outlining your goals and actionable steps to help you feel confident and prepared as you move through the prenatal journey.
-
Postpartum Sessions
This offering includes two sessions, with the first ideally scheduled 1–2 days after you return home from delivery. During this visit, we’ll assess latch, milk transfer, and overall feeding efficiency, while also addressing any immediate questions or concerns. I’m also available by phone during your hospital stay should you need support before our in-person or virtual visit.
The second session will be scheduled based on your unique timeline, needs, and preferences to ensure you continue to feel supported and confident in your feeding journey.
How do I know if I need to be seen by lactation support? Isn’t breastfeeding natural? Shouldn’t it be easy?
Studies have shown that effective support for healthy mothers and term babies on their breastfeeding journey includes education by trained professionals during prenatal and/or postnatal care, ongoing scheduled visits, and individualized guidance tailored to the needs and setting of the family.
Breastfeeding is a natural biological process—but in today’s world, routine hospital interventions and societal expectations can influence both the initiation and continuation of the breastfeeding journey. That’s why I believe education is empowering. When you’re equipped with knowledge, you can explore your options, weigh the risks and benefits, and make informed decisions that truly work for you and your family.
Before the birth of my daughter, I did everything I could to prepare—but my journey was still shaped by unexpected challenges, including infection, infant reflux, tethered oral tissues, and more. I overcame these hurdles by researching, seeking support, and advocating for both myself and my baby.
Now, I’m here to do the same for you—to help you plan ahead, to educate and empower you, and to support you in navigating any obstacles that arise along the way.

The main differences between an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) are related to their training, certification requirements, and scope of practice. Both IBCLCs and CBSs play important roles in supporting breastfeeding, but the level of expertise and the scope of practice differ, making IBCLCs better suited for complex cases and integrated medical care, while CBSs provide valuable support for common breastfeeding concerns.
Personally, I have the same education and training that is required for an IBCLC; however, I am in the process of obtaining my clinical hours, and I have not yet taken the IBCLE exam.

I had the opportunity to meet with Avery during my third trimester and it was an incredibly valuable experience. During our single visit, we covered so much, including the completion of my birth plan and preparing for labor and delivery. Avery gave me practical tips on how to create a supportive breastfeeding environment at home, which made me feel confident for the journey ahead. One of the most helpful aspects was developing breastfeeding goals and realistic expectations. Avery’s expertise and understanding approach gave me the tools I needed to start my breastfeeding journey with confidence.
